Not sure if i'm carrying a girl or a boy yet? actually we're not planning on finding out....but currently i have got the name Nelle in my head and i love the sound of it. I know there are names like Penelope that can be shortened to Nel but i've gone through them all and i dont like any of the names.

So it leaves me with Nelle, i like the spelling of Nelle (pronounced 'Nell) but i've also seen it spelt as Nell, which is the proper way? I see this spelling of Nelle similar to Belle or Elle, which i'm drawn to. I think it's short and sweet and i can already imagine calling a little girl Nelle.

Like /Dislike?

Love to hear some thoughts? rolleyes.gif

I love Nell. It's such a sweet name, and Nellie is a cute nickname. And it's fine on its own, IMO.

I would go with Nell over Nelle, but that's just personal preference.

Great pick!

I love it because my mum's name was Nell. She hated it though!

I think it is sweet.

I adore this name and have no idea why Harper is so much more popular than Nelle (the author of To Kill a Mockingbird is Nelle Harper Lee). I prefer the spelling Nelle and think its lovely enough to be a name all of its own.

I share the love. Such a good name. Fine as stand-alone and I like Nelle and Nell pretty much equally. I think I'd go for Nell, not for any reason, just to choose!

The Nell names that appeal to me:

Nella
Ellen
Helen
Finella/Fenella
Helena
Donnella
Petronella
Antonella

If a cat doesn't like you, then what's wrong with you?
I don't like it at all. I would spell it Nell.

ETA I especially hate the name Nelly.
