So I read it in a bad romance novel
Is Fia a name in it own right? Does anyone know one? What names could it be the shortened version of apart from Sophia? |

Maybe it's a nickname for Fiona?
It is an Italian name meaning 'flickering fire' but I've never met one. |

I've come across one, it was meant to sound like "fear", and in a certain accent it does.
I think it's used as a NN for Fiama? I've come across a Fiama, I like that better and prefer Fia as a NN. |

How strange! I came across this name only yesterday and instantly loved it! So I looked it up on BTN and nothing came up. But I really like it

I work with a Fia, she's a lovely Maori lady. I'm not sure if it's a traditional Maori name though.
Personally I prefer Thea. |

We call our daughter Fia, short for Sophia.
We mostly started doing it because her cousin calls her that (couldn't pronounce Sophia) and it was cute. It's kinda stuck |

Can be stand-alone but I think of it as more commonly a NN for Sofia.
Other Fia full names: Filomena Philana Philadelphia Philantha Serafina Fiona Fiametta Fiamma Josefina Phillida Philippa Finola Fianna Fidelma Fionnoula |
