Hi everyone it looks like I have a positive however my positive hcg level has only gone from 60 to 104 in five days. Not too hopeful it'll stick any success stories? I of course will know on weds when I have another test just killing time!

It's not looking good, I'll be honest. Have you had spotting? Hcg limping along like that was a sign of ectopic for me, but I ended up having about 4 blood tests that continued to rrise like that, then an US that showed nothing in uterus. Fingers crossed the next test has a better rise.

Hi OP, I can give you an answer but it won't be what you want to hear.

I have had a large amount of experience with HCG levels, having had 9 pregnancies but only two children. I would estimate that I've had over 100 HCG blood tests, and have done many many hours research on the topic.

In my experience, I would honestly say that your results are not promising. A normally rising HCG shows what is called a quadratic pattern, which initially involves a doubling time of roughly every 2 days (up until about 21 days past ovulation). After this time, the doubling periods extends until you get past about 10-12 weeks, when the HCG plateaus, and then slowly starts to drop.

In cases where women have had similar blood test results to yours, and gone on to have a successful pregnancy, it is usually due to a 'vanishing twin'. As the name implies, there was initially more than one baby, but one was lost, accounting for the temporary reduction in HCG levels.

I must acknowledge that I'm not a medical doctor, and there have also been some very rare cases where HCG did not fit the quadratic pattern mentioned earlier. I am hoping that you are one of these.

Hi, I can give you a personal positive story, but I agree with prior posters that unfortunately these are rare and usually non-doubling HCG is not a good sign. With our current pregnancy, HCG at 10 days post transfer (ivf) was very low - 97. Two days later it was only 150, and we were told to expect a miscarriage. Both numbers were considerably lower than earlier pregnancies. We were tested again 3 days later, and HCG had started to rise normally at doubling levels. We are now 16 weeks pregnant. So yes, it can happen, but if there's not normal doubling at the next test things probably will not progress. I am very sorry that you have to endure the wait, it is agonising, but really time is the only thing that can tell. Good luck.

Thanks everyone yes I know the reality just can't stand the wait. I also think its my fault as we didn't wait a month after the MC before trying again so have complicated things.

I had a miscarriage on 1st of December 2012 and got pregnant straight away after the docs told me it was fine to start straight away. I hope everything works out for you - I'm scared I made the wrong decision to try straight away too.
