Do you mean the tag on the shirt itself or the tag attached to the tag on the shirt?

I had to return an item to Target the other day without a receipt. They gave me store credit to use within 3 months. Not sure if that applies everywhere or just at this particular target store but yeah.

Can't say for sure but as long as the tag is still attached they might, but you would only get what the current value of the item is (i.e. if it is on sale or discounted, not the full price)

I have returned before - there is a code at the top of the sown in tag they use to determine price.

Employee here. Return policy after xmas is pretty lenient, as long as the item is in new and sale-able condition you will be able to get a store credit if you don't have a receipt. However if the fabric tags have been cut off the item, they cannot be accepted, as this is done to items that are "written off" and thrown away. if the item was a gift just be prepared to have it scan up at a really reduced price, this can happen if the gift giver has purchased a clearance item, or if the item has become a clearance item post sale (eg- the item was purchased in midyear at full price, but has now been reduced) unfortunately without a receipt this may happen.

Most places are pretty relaxed at this time of year re returns.

Someone gave my DD nerf guns for her birthday and I have no idea where they were even purchased so I just tried my luck at big w and they gave me store credit for whatever value they scanned up as original.gif

So why cant you do a return if the tags are not on the item? i am confused...
So if the clothes a brand new never warn and you lost the receipt and the tags have come off you cant get a store credit? or not?

What about if the something is faulty and you don't have a receipt?

It has to be recognisably belonging to the store. If all tags and bar codes are removed and it is an item you can get elsewhere then from my experience you'll be lucky to get help at all.

I keep receipts and tags for all the presents I give for this very reason.

Have you asked the gift giver if they have the receipt? I thought most people keep them just in case. original.gif

If the paper tag is cut in half yes they will accept it and you will get a store voucher to the value that the item now scans at. Alternatively if it is a size change and the other size is the same price then usually they will allow a simple exchange.

If the size clothing tag sewn in to the clothing has come off then no they will not accept it.
