Hi Ladies,
I am really hoping someone can help me. Due to a number of unfortunate events that took place in my early pregnancy I now have a extremely sore neck, and i think my really sore neck is causing my 24/7 headaches now usually i would just go to my chiropractor and he would fix me right up BUT.....I am now almost 11 weeks pregnant and i have no idea if it is safe to go to the chiropractor or not. The other thing is when i was in hospital at 6 weeks pregnant due to the very bad side effects of taking clexane injections and doctors thinking i might have a clot or a bleed in the brain, the neurosurgeon told me that it's not safe to see a chiropractor because there are small delicate veins around your neck and every time the chiropractor manipulates or cracks your neck there is a risk of those veins tearing and a blood clot forming All i know is I am in pain 24/7 neck and head pain and i just want it to go away and i know it was caused due to all the trauma my body went through in hospital plus sleeping in my daughters bed for over 4 weeks can anyone suggest what I can do to eliminate this pain???? Thankyou for your help |

See a good physiotherapist. I have had ongoing neck problems and find that a good physio provides the best relief. The can tape you to provide support and apply appropriate massage techniques, and recommend suitable stretches to relieve and strengthen.

Go and see a physio, someone with experience treating pregnant women. In the meantime put a heat pack on your neck and take some panadol. Also go and see your GP.
Acupuncture is also great during pregnancy. I saw my acupuncturist 2-3 times a week from about 12 weeks when I was pregnant with DD. just make sure your practitioner is experienced with pregnant women. Edited to add: a good pregnancy massage can be fantastic too! Where are you located OP? This post has been edited by littleboysmum: 07/01/2013, 07:50 AM |

Would you consider seeing a physio or osteopath? I saw an osteopath during my pregnancy for pelvis/hip issues. She was very gentle and it made the world of difference. A physio might also be able to gently stretch your neck muscles so that they are not so sore.
A tight neck always gives me headaches, and they are really bad so I feel for you! What about using a warm wheat bag in the meantime? That always helps my sore muscles. |

I would just go to the chiro as per normal. especially if you know he would fix the problem.
