Now I know quite a few of us LOVE our expedits but I'm really unhappy with the new colours Ikea has brought out for the canvas boxes that fit the unit. Originally I got the lovely baby pink canvas boxes but they're just not selling it anymore, well not at my local Ikea (Rhodes in Sydney).

Does anyone know of anywhere else that sells similar that fits the expedit. I've seen them at Bunnings and they do fit (I bought some then returned them) but the colours they have are way too bright for my DD's bedrooms.

I'm willing to consider wicker baskets but I would like them to be white not the natural colour. My friend also mentioned that the wicker basket can eventually ruin your carpet by the continual pulling out of the baskets onto the carpet - has anyone experienced this happening?

Would love to hear your thoughts or if anyone could let me know of another company that sells them.

Lime Tree kids have some...depends how much you are looking to spend. They are 50 for a two pack. They are called 'Cooper'.

I think any baskets/containers would work provided they are the same dimensions as the ikea ones - 32w x 32 h x 35d.

You could always get the plain wicker and spraypaint it white if needs be. Or pale pink, or whichever colours you prefer.

I don't pull my baskets completely out of the expedit unless they are being placed somewhere (eg, onto the table to fold laundry into etc..) because I can always reach the back/bottom of the baskets. I couldn't tell you if it causes damage to carpets, perhaps there may be a touch of wear if it is a rough basket constantly being dragged across the same spot.

Target has some fabric covered boxes in various colours. The pink looks a bit bright though...

Yep, Target, they are a little bit smaller though. I have an expedit bookshelf and have the target baskets, they are a few cm's shorter in all directions.

Target has a large range and do have white, black, red, blue etc... they are around $10 each (I got them on sale a while back for $5)

I was at Tempe today and the plywood boxes were half price, so I grabbed a bunch for my new expedit. The wood is unfinished and could be painted any colour.
Also, the Bunnings fabric ones come in a coffee colour (beige), which is neutral. You could easily decorate/stencil/paint those if the colour is too boring.
If you're worried about the wicker damaging carpet or the shelves, you could glue felt to the bottom. Felt is pretty cheap and it would give you some peace of mind. I would suggest spray paint for the wicker as well, but Ikea has the Branas baskets in white if you like that style.

I use a canvas half box in DDs shelf from KMart. Not sure if they still do them but they were much cheaper than Ikea ones. You buy them flat and they zip into shape with a stiff base and a handle to pull out. I like that you can put things in and take them out without pulling the whole basket out.

The came in soft pink and medium blue when I got them.
