Why have a formal name if it's never going to be used?

Dang. I thought you were talking about Kit the talking car from Knight Rider vs. JARVIS the artificial intelligence from the Iron Man universe.

Jarvis is a great name but thanks to Iron Man's mainstream reappearance everyone will think he's named for that... if that's what you're going for, great!

Kit/Christopher is also nice, but you'll have to specify that it's not 'Chris' or 'Topher' from Chris.

I much prefer Christopher NN Kit to Jarvis.

And I definitely prefer the full name Christopher than having Kit on the birth certificate as a stand-alone name. I like keeping options open.

Because it needs to be used - it's my father's name. They will be Chris and Kit respectively.

I hardly ever use my formal name so it's not a big deal.

And that reason right there is why Kit is our frontrunner - my 7 year old son has passionately argued against Jarvis because of Iron Man. I'm not sure whether to listen or not, but he thinks it's nerdy, and not in a good way. I think of Brit pop icon Jarvis Cocker.

I was raised on Knight Rider so Kit to me, is an amazing name (even though the car was officially KITT) original.gif
