Do you like audio books? I love them and they make exercise time fly by (I run so that I don't become obese but I get bored very easily).

Or if you like socialising one of the community college courses (eg tennis, soccer, yoga) or an aqua aerobics class could be ideal.

Stronger than ever.
There's actually a surprising amount of exercise you can do with a dodgy knee. Depending on what's wrong with it. For example:

*Bike riding/ riding a stationary bike
*Yoga (just avoid any moves that make your knee feel pain)
*Pushups
*Situps and other abdominal exercises
*Planking (otherwise known as 'hovering')
*Upper body weights (can be done with hand weights, or even with soup cans or other items found around the house)
*I don't know what they're called, those pedals you push with your hands instead of your feet
*Swimming (as you mentioned)
*Boxing (with a bag, or perhaps you can find a willing victim)

Um... I'll come back if I think of anything else!!

Maybe ask your PT to step it up a bit and for suggestions?

Oh I missed the bit about the PT.

You're paying them to talk?? They're damn expensive, I'd be telling them to get on with it or change PTs.

Your local library will have free DVDs on yoga and pilates.

Many are for senior citizens and as dodgy knees are a big issue with this group, they would probably suit you well.

Oh, and aqua aerobics is good for bung knees. Your local public pool will have classes.

+1 for Aqua Aerobics

I also LOVE bellydancing. I too have two left feet - and NO sense of rhythm biggrin.gif but bellydancing has given me a little bit of both.

The best bit is, there's no jumping up and down - just swooping around and wriggling yer bum (that's my technical take on it, after 8 years of lessons !) - so your knee should be ok.

Plus - sequins, glitter, chiffon scarves and *outrageous* performance skirts. If you're a magpie, its pure heaven cool.gif

Train your dog, it's worth it!
Take up dancing. Or Zumba. Neither feel like exercise - but you will sure as heck know you've done some afterwards. If you let your instructor know you have a dodgy knee, they will make allowances for it. Its also worth consulting a physio and learning to tape it properly so it doesn't prevent you from having fun every day. Speaking as someone with a dodgy knee. wink.gif
