Hi all pregnant with baby #8 here and never had any issues, but today I had my first hospital appointment and they measured the bub. I'm 17 weeks pregnant confirmed by 2 scans but bub is measuring 23 weeks and I have noticed that this bump is huge compared to my others at this stage.
The midwife said they will look more closely at it come 20 week scan time but I can't help but feel a little worried.
Has someone experienced this or have any explanations?

DD measured 36 weeks when she was 31 Ended up being born right on average at birth She always measured ahead from the 12 week scan onwards (had a few as she was high risk for DS)

Don't forget too that there is a +/- up to 500gm (should say on the blue statistic print out how much it is at that weeks scan) variation

Mine is measuring 3 weeks in front on a scan at 34 weeks and the doc wasn't concerned. Also check which measurements are the bigger ones. E.g is it one or two measurements making the average go up rather than all the measurements being bigger?
Could your dates be wrong.

It's the fundal height they are going by.
My dates say the 1 st of June but scans say the 9th so even that doesn't add 3 plus weeks :/ I'm not majorly worried just kind of wth type of thing lol

My fundal height has been about 2cm large since they started measuring it. The midwife is putting it down to me being tall - the guess is I just have a tall baby in there.

I think there can be a lot of reasons for measuring larger, and as long as the rest of the pregnancy is going okay I'd say don't worry too much

Fundal height can vary with different midwives/Drs measuring in a slightly different way. It can also vary with your anatomy (very tall/short person), or subsequent pregnancies might mean your uterus grows/stretches more quickly?

FWIW, mine measured 2-4cm ahead throughout, and by 37+3 mine was 44cm - so huge. Baby was born weighing 8lb. A lot of fluid, and just that it's not a really reliable measure.

Every pregnancy I measure 2-4 weeks ahead. So far dd was 8lbs 10oz DS 1 was 9lbs 6oz DS 2 was born at 18 weeks measured average size of 20 weeker. This dd is measuring shad also so I guess she will be as big if not bigger. None of my kids have reached my birth weight yet (10lbs4oz)

My fundal height is perfect, but my baby is measuring a little smaller - still on the average curve but just on the smaller end of average. I was a small baby as was my sister and my Mum so I am thinking she may be smaller too. But like the others have said there's no guarantee until the baby is born.

Plus I thought the more babies you have, the bigger the bump (and earlier?).

I wouldn't be concerned at all if its fundal height. My doc doesn't even do final height until 20 weeks. Relax and enjoy.
