I'm trying to find the perfect first, and hopefully only, pram I buy.
I've figured out what I want, I know no pram is perfect but I can dream
"Must Haves"

- Lightweight (<10kg?)

- Easy to fold (compactly folds in 1 piece)


- Not too wide, fits easily in shopping aisles (< 65cm)

- Able to fit car seat capsule (attachment available)

- Fully reclining seat (for newborn-toddler)

"Would Like"


- Reversible facing


- Adjustable handle

- Toddler seat or skateboard attachment available


- Would prefer that tires don't get 'deflated' and need regular pumping up

I welcome your suggestions of what to buy and experiences on what not to buy!

We just bought the steelcraft strider compact which covers most of your wants (although it is 12kg)

Haven't used it yet though ....

If I got to choose again. I would go a strider compact. I have the original strider & I really do love it, it's a fantastic pram & very convertible. The only things I would change are the 2 back wheels are slightly too wide but on the strider compact they are much more narrow & it is more light weigh (I don't have a problem with the weight of my strider but I know it does annoy some people) pram that can go rear facing was a must for me & I'm glad I have a pram that works well with baby facing me because my almost 1 year old is still rear facing, we both much prefer it that way. I have had him in it forward facing & I keep stopping to check on him every few steps lol it's especially good when he is having a snack, he likes to try & put large amounts of food in his mouth & swallow them! If you are going to look at the 3 wheel buggy type prams I would take a decent sized toddler with u to play on it & see how well it can handle it. My best friend has a 16 month old & I have seen her move around in her pram (a very popular brand) & have it tip over at least 3 times. Good luck, pram shopping is so fun

The peg perego pliko switch compact would be good, it takes the peg perego capsule, weighs 10kg, umbrella folds, rear faces and is suitable from birth, narrow (like most umbrella strollers) and I think it comes with the built in toddler step that most pegs have, tires are not air and so do not need pumping up, and it's affordable < $500 if you shop around.

Another option is a bugaboo bee, under 10kg, one piece fold, reversable, takes a number of capsules (with adaptors) is narrow and I think you can buy a skateboard for it but it's more $$$ about $800.00 on sale.

It looks like it ticks all the requirements you've listed, it's under 10kg, has an easy umbrella fold, is compatible with a capsule, narrow, is reversible and has non pneumatic tyres and height adjustable handles.

I'm not 100% sure it reclines fully although it says suitable from birth and I'm iffy on the toddler board attachment. It might be compatible with one of the universal toddler boards, but I'm not too sure.

For the record it's the stroller I'd wanted for DS1 but they weren't available in Australia at that time and I hadn't worked out how to order from overseas at that stage. By the time I worked that out it was no longer a viable stroller for our lifestyle.

I had my heart set on a particular pram that fit all of my criteria (very similar to yours), took my other half into the store and watched him walk up the corridor with it and realised there was no way he would ever be able to walk behind it with his clodhopper size 12 feet and lanky legs without kicking it . So started from scratch with first thing on the list being lanky man can walk behind it so I am not always pushing the pram!

In the end for me the perfect pram was the ONLY one in the store he could walk behind, luckily it was also reversible. Moral of the story is go to a store with alot of prams, load your shortlist (plus a couple of not quite perfects) up with about 10 kilograms of something and push it around and decide from there.

We got the Bebe Care Reverse XLR (originally had the Baby Jogger City Elite for #1 but couldnt use for 2).

Love that the main seat could be a bassinette at the start with bub lying completely flat. Now that bub is sitting up he's still in the top seat (toddler has decided she likes to be underneath), top seat can face front or rear & can still lie down with bubs sitting if they fall asleep.

It's very easy to manoeuver (good turning circle) & fold down but you do have to disconnect the seats.

We hired a capsule & bought the connector so could just connect straight on when we wanted to.

It's so hard, there are so many choices out there.
