Help! Present for 12yo boy

Shape-shifting Reptilian Overlord
DS turns 12 shortly. He is a geek boy. He reads fantasy books but he got 7 books for christmas. He is not heavily into lego. He doesn't want an experience gift. The only thing I can find that he actually wants is a Tokyoflash watch. I would buy him one but the damn things are over a cm thick and are much to chunky to look sensible on him. He has agreed that they are too thick and chunky. So, wise denizens of EB, what the hell can I buy for him?

A dragon picture for his wall? A camera? iTunes voucher? Money? I feel your pain. Gift giving can be torture trying to get it right and make it meaningful instead of symbolic.

I offered him an ipod but he doesn't want one. He doesn't listen to music so headphones are out. We already have tickets to the cricket. He doesn't need new cricket gear. He still has money from Christmas 2011 from relatives. He just throws it in the bank. I was trying to think of something for his room but he already has glow in the dark star wallpaper on one wall, space invaders decals on another, a massive minecraft poster on another, planets all over the ceiling and there's no room on the fourth wall. It's a smallish room so I can't put a desk in there and he wouldn't use it anyway. I'm at an absolute standstill here. I have 7 days to think, source, purchase and wrap something that will interest him. Right now he's getting a big box of nothing.

My nearly 12 year old son, when I asked him, said "a frog... an easy to maintain, interesting pet. Or a mouse."

Movie tickets??? Gold class even?? (he must want to go and see the hobbit?) Does he play games ie computer games. Or maybe some kind of fantasy board game. Good luck Helen

Can you take him shopping and he can choose the clothes/shoes/hats that he wants. Or could you let him surf an online store and let him choose something and then have it shipped? I found Think Geek for my Christmas shopping ( thanks to an EB thread) and it was so easy to get some different stuff for my kids.

BC, have you looked at the Think Geek website? All sorts of fun stuff there. I know you have a short timeframe and there's a chance even with expedited shipping that it won't arrive in time, though. If he's into Star Wars and you're desperate, I have a spare Light Sabre torch left over from my Christmas shopping that I could send you (turned out I'd already bought a gift for someone and completely forgotten about it until I started doing the wrapping!) Would he be interested in a chess set? Maybe a novelty one like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? A pet of some description- lizard, turtle or similar A DVD with collectable like Darth Vadar helmet I'll be back...

He might get into music if you buy him an ipod. My eldest is 16 and really only got into music at around 14. DVD's?
