This is a Formal Cheese occasion.
I stumbled across the name Callie the other day and love it. I'd like to use it as a nickname for a more formal name though. Any suggestions besides:

Caroline
Calliope
?Catherine
Callista

None of them thrill me.

Also, is the poor child likely to spend her entire life correcting people who have called her Kelly?

ETA: Anyone who knows me IRL please don't share my name possibilities around.

Can't think of any other long names, but...

I like it! It's one of the very few names that I like the NN / shortened name but am not a huge fan of the longer names though.

I found a google link for you, someone's already asked on Yahoo Answers and I figured instead of appropriating their hard work I'd just give you the link:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...26172420AAZ3oW3

Some of the suggested names are a little more tenuous to Callie than I'd like, but hopefully you'll find something there!

ETA: If I were to choose a longer name for Callie, I'd choose Carlotta - but I know it's not to a lot of people's tastes.

I like it as a name to itself, not as a shortening.

I like it for Caroline.

I also like it for:
Calantha or Calanthe
Calixta, Callisto
Calandra
Calla, as in the lily.

Despite all the TKAM names taking off, I don't see Calpurnia following.

I'd have it as a stand alone name. It's lovely, unusual without being outlandish.

I think it works as a name in its own right, does not need to be short for something.

I also think it is distinct enough from Kelly and Kaylee - I think people will differentiate it easily enough.

I'm a Caroline and I got Cal a bit when I was younger. Always hated that (!) but Callie has a nicer ring to it. I'm just known as my full name, which I like. I don't meet too many others.

I've got a friend that is just Calli, very pretty name.

I love PP's suggestion of Calanthe.
