Hi ladies,

Has anyone used the P & Ts with double kit for a newborn and a child 3yrs old, (approx 16kgs in weight?)

Also what is the weight or age minumum for the newborn for the back seat? Is it when they can sit up or a certain weight etc? Id love to know.

I have found a second hand one in good condition for $150. Id love to get something for my newborn and todddler, i already have the swift, but want to walk etc.

I haven't got the same age gap between my two that you do, but I think you might be ok.
With the little seat at the back, I think I put my DD in that from when she was holding her head up strongly. I didn't put a head support in but have seen others use one.

Only issue may be when your newborn is in the main seat- if your older child is tall they may be a bit awkward in the double seat. If there's anyway to check that first I would.

I love my P&T for walking. I know not everyone is a fan but I am.

Yes thats my only issue, my DD is tall and with the main seat in newborn mode she might be a bit tall for it. But when bub goes in the second seat and DD is in the front she should be ok.

I can use it as a single in the long run too. Its just for the days/outings that are long for DD in the long run. In the first few weeks i can use a carrier or not plan huge days.

Yes I have the P&T's Verve for my DS (3.3 & approx 17kg) & DD (7 months & approx 7.5 kg). I don't load too much more on as it's heavy enough with the toddler but love it - especially when I want to be quick at the shops and don't want the toddler to walk. I can see I might get another 6 months out of it before the toddler is just to big for it but it's really been a great ing to have, particularly when you need to deal with that long afternoon.

For the back seat they say once they have good neck control, and was told at least 3 months so we put DS in the back expecting a large fight but he loves sitting down the bottom and have left him now in that spot.

Not sure on the swift but know my bugaboo also takes a toddler seat/standing attachment that a girlfriend has so that could also be an option but given you have found a double at a great price I think you can't loose with it.

Added - my DS is in the 90% height for his age and fits ok, you will be surprised how they fit, if you can take your DD tomorrow try her in it to check but I think she will be fine.

I had a 2yrs 7 months gap between DD1 and DD2. We bought a P&T Dash once DD2 was due as DD1 was over the 15kg which was the limit of all but 2 toddler seats on the market at the time. I'm really happy with our decision as it worked so well.

DD1 was a very big child, so was a bit tall in the doubles seat when it was in newborn mode, but she wasn't bothered. We moved DD2 to the rear seat at about 2 months as she hated laying flat and we used a head support to stop her slumping. She was much happier like this.

We've used the P&T with a big 5 year old at one stage, as she had been in a Christmas pageant and was too tired to walk back to the car. With a toddler in the back and the almost 20kg 5 year old the pram felt heavy, but other than that time, I never had an issue.

The weight limit of the pram is 40kg, which is made of 25kg in the main seat and 15kg in the doubles seat when it's at the rear. When the doubles seat is at the front, it can take 25kg, but I can't see a 25kg child fitting, to be honest.

I could have still been using our P&T now for my DD2 (4.5 and 17kg) and DD3 (2.5 and 15.5kg) if it wasn't for both of them being heavier than the 15kg weight limit for the rear seat as they still both fitted and were very happy in the pram. DD2 has issues with her legs, so prefers the pram to walking and I'm now trying to find a different solution that I'm as happy with as I was with the P&T. To me, it was the most versatile of configurations of any of the prams I've seen.

One issue is where to put the nappy bag when you've got the rear seat attached. I bought the pannier bags and used one for shopping etc and the other for the nappy bag. It worked really well and meant that I could still squeeze a bit of shopping into the basket around the rear child's legs.

I apprecaite all this advice, sounds like a versitile pram.

My daughter is 3y4m and on the 97%ile for her height, she is VERY tall (average5yr old) so its been hard to try work out what to do for the best.

The P & T seem to come round all the time so ill keep looking.

I am hoping to look at a friends one and try it out rather than travelling to look at this pram today, wasting time etc, so i cancelled the viewing for the time being.

They seem to go for $100-$250 second hand etc.
