Train your dog, it's worth it!
I usually use Troys, which I get from the vet. I love their leave in conditioner. Always use conditioner - it really helps get the loose hair out!

We've been using Aloveen oatmeal shampoo and conditioner on our dog for a couple of years since she had some itchy skin problems. We only bath her every 2-3 months though - or if she rolls in something particularly smelly!! She has short hair that doesn't need clipping; we just brush her regularly.

Also, congratulations on bringing your new dog home!! biggrin.gif

I spend lots of money on dog shampoos and conditioners. My current favourite brand is Kelco, I use their Black Star shampoo and Plum Rinse as a conditioner. Plush Puppy and Isle of Dogs are also lovely brands with a big range to suit different types of coats. My stand-by all purpose shampoo is Plush Puppy Conditioning shampoo.
For white dogs, Chris Christensen White on White is fantastic, and if you only bath your dog occasionally or it gets into something and gets extra dirty, Kelco Filthy Animal is great.

Just a tip for using shampoo on your pets. No matter what brand or type, dilute it. Same with conditioner. It's gentler on the animals skin, it goes further and it spread more evenly throughout the coat.
I keep a couple of empty spring water bottles handy. Fill 3/4 with warm water, add about a tablespoon full of shampoo and turn the bottle until it's diluted. Do the same with the conditioner, and if you think of it early enough, give it a good few hours to break down in the water.

It really does make your expensive shampoos last a lot longer.

Another tip, if your dog is white or has white markings that get dirty marks, use a nail brush and shampoo or Sard Wonder soap to remove the dirty parts.
