Hi everyone, Yep, Im pretty new here, since I only found out I was pregnant 2 days ago!. I have taken to test and both positive.
In a few hours we are going to my doctor to tell them the news and find out what the heck do we do next!! I have no idea. I think my brain is going on information overload.. I want to scream and yell the news from the rooftops, but my husband doesnt want to tell people until we are at 3 months. Im hoping the doctor can guide us tonight |

Congratulations! I found out I was PG with DS this time last year and told all my close girlfriends and my sister. I couldn't help myself! Good luck with it all and I hope you have a wonderful PG.

Congratulations! It's such an exciting time for you both!
Take some guidance from your GP on what to do now (hopefully you have a good one!). Generally they might to a blood test to check your iron levels, immunity, blood group etc and possibly to "confirm" the pregnancy checking for HCG (pregnancy hormone). Besides looking after yourself - take your vitamins, folate etc - really all you need to do right now is decide if you want to go through the private or public system. If you have PHI and want to go private with an OB, ask around for recommendations and book in NOW. Some OB's book our very quickly as they only take on so many patients due each month. Be warned, that even with PHI, private can still cost a LOT of money. My OB is at the more expensive end of things, but I think the average is about 3k - 4k management fee... If you want to go public, then there are options like midwifery group practice, birth centres that also book out quickly. I can't advise on this, as I'm a private patient. Someone else will have some good advice about these options. Otherwise, enjoy! :-) |

We do have private health insurance, we took it out about 12 months ago when we first started thinking about having a baby
But to be honest, I think we may just stick to the public system, all my close friends and family went through public and had no issues. But it is nice to have the option if we need it. Ive started taking Ellivit again, (I ran out a few weeks ago and didnt buy any more) I think so far the worst thing I have had to deal with in the 2-3 days I have known, is having to give up Friday night steak night!!! No more rare steak with danish blue cheese sauce for me.... |

Congrats OP!! I just thought I'd pop in to say that you don't have to give up your steak night!! Just cook it to medium instead of rare. And the blue cheese is cooked in the sauce so that's ok!! Don't stress too much over the food stuff. As long as you eat fresh (no pre-prepared) foods and ensure that everything is washed, cooked well and reheated well, it's ok. It's easy to get hysterical about what you can/can't eat, but I think sometimes we tend to go a bit overboard, especially in our first pregnancy. Let your common sense guide you and enjoy your steak night!! |

I think youve just made my day. I love my blu cheese sauce.. It is very thoroughly cooked, in double cream! hahaha. Its boiled for quite a while so its served hot... Im going to try booking into the hospital today, then book my dating scans! I got a little excited last night, my husband and I were discussing how we are goign ot announce to our parents |
