Hi all!!

DH and I are struggling a bit with names. We have several ideas but just haven't found the perfect name yet.

DH isn't passionate about any names which is part of the battle!!

Girls' MN will definitely be Leonora (previously EBers have suggested using this as the first name but we don't like it that much). I love & DH likes all 3 of our top girls' names, which are:
Amelia
Emilia
Eloise

We also like Anna, Caitlin and Eliza and DH likes Lucy a lot - I also like it but Lucy Leonora is a bit much for me & DH agrees, but I'm mentioning it so you get a better idea of our tastes!!

I love Amelie too but can't convince DH on it.

As for boys, DH very much likes Isaac. I like but don't love it. He suggested Max but now seems to have gone off it a bit, whereas I really like it!! I also really like Harry and Alexander.
Today we came up with Jonah, and DH surprised me by being quite keen on it!!

We both like Lachlan a lot but it is too heavy with our surname, which ends in N and has an L sound in it too

Boys' MN will most likely be Glenn after DH's dad.

Any feedback you might have would be great to hear, and of you have any other suggestions for us, we would love to hear them too!!

I really like Caitlin and Eliza, and much prefer them to any of your top 3. Sorry but I really really dislike Eloise plus I don't think it goes well with Leonora - the first and dominant sounds are too similar (but then, the sane could be said for Eliza).

Alexander is the standout of your boys names, but I also like Jonah. I really dislike Max, and think two one-syllable names (Max Glenn) sounds too choppy.

I should have said, if we choose Max then we would most likely make the full name Maximilian, rather than just Max as I agree Max Glenn is too choppy.

Leonora is a bit of a tricky MN to work with but it is set in stone, and I'm not too worried about repeated sounds with it, as I just love those 3 names & how often do you say your first and MN together anyway?

I really like Amelia, Emilia, Lucy, Anna and Eliza.

I wouldn't use Leonora with any of Amelia, Emilia, Eliza, Caitlin or Eloise. Just too difficult to say. However these are good:

Anna and Lucy are both gorgeous and pretty much trouble-free with the MN and variants. These are all fine IMO:

For boys I like Alexander, Jonah, Harry, Isaac and Maximilian. However with the MN I think only two combos are easy to say:

I love Maximilian Glenn. So that's my clear pick for a boy.
For a girl I don't think you can beat Anna Leonora.

I think Emily or Emma would work better with Leonora than your current top 3. Or even Elspeth, Elsie or Elsa.

I like all your boys names.

Henry Alexander would be my pick.

Looking at your list for a little girl I would say you have your favourite: Amelia/Emelia -you just aren't set on the spelling!!
It's a beautiful strong name when you couple it with Leonora- ( and will be a fabulous " you are in deep trouble Missy" type name should you ever have to use the dreaded full name when trying to get her attention when he is misbehaving ).
It just depends on bubs surname as to if its too much if a mouthful in the end. Mind you- that didn't trouble my parents as they gave me a double barrelled surname to go with "Allyson Elizabeth". I got used to it though.. And funnily enough after wanting a shorter name forever I'm having trouble letting go of my surname and taking hubby's now as it sounds incomplete!! (It only has 6 letters).
As to your boys names.. I personally don't like two single syllable names together, I'm funny about the way names sound, and the rhythm they have.. With a single syllable middle name, I personally would be inclined to go with a three syllable first name - but I'm a little strange that way!! I like Alexander Glenn, but the more I think about Jonah Glenn, the more I like it .. Especially if you surname is three or more syllables.

In the end it's your baby and your decision though, and you are the only ones who have to love it. I have had family friends say "ick" to some of our names that we like, but hen I'd never chose the names they did for their kids either! Everyone has different taste after all- that's what makes the world turn- our differences!

You have very similar taste in names to us - we have picked Emilia for a girl (and considered Amelia), and Jonah and Lachlan were on our boys list!

Honestly, middle names don't get used that much, so I wouldn't pick a first name you aren't as keen on (say, Emily) just because it goes better with the middle name.

For girls, I think

Emilia Leonora
Eloise Leonora
Amelia Leonora

In that order. They are all fab!

For boys, I like

Jonah Glenn
Alexander Glenn

Only one I don't like is Harry Glenn - when you say it out loud, it reminds me of arrogant.
