Help me figure out what this book is

This is probably going to be very vague as I can only remember small details but for some reason I started thinking of this book I read when I was a teenager (mid 90s) and I can't remember what it was but it's driving me nuts. It is an australian book about a teenage girl. I think it may have been set in WA. I am pretty sure in the book she falls pregnant and runs away from home and is travelling around the state and then at some point she is involved in a car accident but I can't remember anything other than that. Any ideas????

Yes, sounds familiar.....what I am thinking of though is there was more to the story...she was a troubled teenager ......two families were involved, from a small country town and it turns out the children were accidentally swapped at birth .....ie the families went home with the wrong baby.....it was the family of the troubled teenager who first raised a suspicion about this....?

I remember one short chapter where she went on about how great and perfect life can be in all sorts of descriptive ways and then it ended with 'Sometimes you are wrong'. That was the end of the chapter and then the start of the next chapter she had been in the car accident. I really liked that chapter and I used to have it written out in a notebook and now I can't find it! I don't know what made me think of it last night but now I can't stop thinking what the hell was that book???? lol

Yes I do think she was a troubled teenager but not sure about the separated at birth bit. Could be though! I can't even remember if I read it in school or from the library

I found the bit I had in my head that I couldn't quite remember properly “Sometimes you think you know where you are headed. You think you know what each day will bring. you think there will be a breath to follow this breath. It has always been that way before. But sometimes you are wrong" (I was a little off with my description!)
