Recently bub had very frequent poos. In milk out poo and also in between feeds. I usually don't use nappy rash cream unless his bum is affected by rash. But once we were a bit late to change and his rash got quite bad, had a raw spot of 2cm.

Just wondering what's the norm with use of nappy rash creams? Do you apply at every nappy change whether there's rash or not? Or do you only use when there's rash?

Also, what brands do you use? I have bought Desitin which contains 13% zinc oxide. But got a few samples of Sudocream (15%) and Curash (20%). Or any better and effective ones around?

Lastly, do you use any nappy rash powder? Are they better than creams?

Use cloth nappies during the day so don't use it at all during the day. Use a disposable overnight and usually slather on some then as we don't change her overnight (unless she poos which is never). I use Curash as I find it stays on longer than sudocrem (higher zinc content).

Only had one instance of nappy rash (back when she was pooing frequently) and I just kept her in disposables for a few days and used the cream until it went away.

If the rash continues it might be worth trying one that has an antifungal component (we had to use this on the "nappy rash" around the folds in her neck for a week a few months back - it cleared it up well).

Haven't tried any powders.

I only use the cream if my bub has a rash which isn't very often. The cream tends to clear it up pretty quickly. I used nappy rash cream on the dribble rash on his neck too when he used to get that. We have mostly used Curash cream. I also put Curash powder or regular baby powder on his bum and groin too when I remember, and always after his bath.

Desitin cream worked best for dd, I applied it pretty liberally and it stayed on well.

i use bepanthen at every nappy change, and he's always got a rash free bum

My DD gets rashes when she is getting more teeth and I've tried everything but I found curash to be the best. She is in cloth during the day so I just put the curash powder on each change during the day and at night when she is in a disposable I lather the curash cream then seal it with the powder.

Thanks so much. Dh went out to get Curash powder and cream. Bubs raw spot has finally healed! So happy!

I can't recommend hydrozole enough. Seems to fix everything, even mozzie bites!!
