I need some advice here. We have been getting a bad smell the last couple of days, its coming out of one of the rooms, we removed everything in there and realised the smell is coming out of the plug point. Smells like something dead, maybe dead rat or something.

We open the window for airing throughout the day but the smell comes back the next morning.

How can we get rid of the smell?

You will have to get pest control to do that.

Umm... probably a mouse or rat electrocuted behind the powerpoint.

Teh most important thing here is "why?" perhaps the dead mouse has chewed the wires and that is common, in which case, it's a matter of safety priority that you get it seen to asap by an electrician.

The dead animal smell will take a week or so to go.

But that's not the worry here....chewed open electrical wires WILL cause a fire. I urge you to see if you can turn OFF that power point circuit and call a sparky first thing tomorrow.

Like PP said, I'd be getting an electrician in ASAP to check that particular wiring. You really don't want a housefire.
