I am exclusively BF and baby has been steadily gaining approx 300 grams a week.
He sat at the 60th percentile the Friday before Christmas which was the last time we weighed him.

In ten days he has put on just shy of a kilo.

Is it normal for babies to have weeks were they just stack it on?

I never weighted my little guy regularly, but he whacked on the weight in the early days. BF on demand as well. I remember he was putting on 2 or 3 times the 'recommended' amount. Looking back at phtos taken in his first three months, he looks so bloated!

But, it was always fine when I mentioned it to the GP. And he slowed down a lot once he started moving/crawling to now being a little lighter than his buddies.

Sounds fine to me, is he pooing and weeing fine? If not or if you're worried, see your GP.

Are you measuring on the same scales properly each time?
I'm no expert but that sounds like a heap of weight1 He'd be growing out of his clothes weekly almost!

Yep, wee and poos normal
Very happy baby. Feeds 8 times a day, sleeps well, active playtimes (kicking &waving arms)

He has been wear size 3-6mths for a few weeks now.
It's a little loose but figure he will grow into them.

Dp thinks he's just had a growth spurt this past fortnight.

Your baby sounds gorgeous, he'll have some impressive thunder thighs if he hasn't got them already with that sort of growth .
Apparently bfed babies can stack on weight for the first 2 or so months then the trajectory of growth will slow.
Maybe he had a bit of growth to catch up with if he was born early?
He is breast milk fed so his body will cope no matter how much he drinks.

My 4 month old is ten kilos. He gained 3 kgs between 1 & 2 months old and another 3 kgs between 2 & 4 months old.

My first one put on 900gr in his first week.

So, for us, huge growth is normal. His growth spurts are always - feeding, feeding , feeding almost constantly for 2-3 days, then sleeping almost constantly for 2 days. His nails grow exceptionally fast during the growth spurts and this last one he grew a lot of hair in those few days too.
