I've noticed people either seem to love or violently hate coriander, and there's a theory behind this that there's a genetic factor in whether you like coriander or not. It also might be related to whether you love or hate spicy food. Me, I love coriander, whack great handfuls of it in salads...and eat jalapenos like peanuts. DH is the same and we've even started gradually adding spice to BabyG's food, at 16 months...and he seems to handle it well.

So do you love or hate coriander, and is it related to your love or hatred of spicy food?

Edit, if you do hate it, find support with other like minded souls here at I hate cilantro biggrin.gif

I like it in small amounts but find most recipes use too much of it and it overpowers the dish.
I don't mind spicy foods but have lost my taste for spices a bit since being pregnant and now having to cater to a toddler's more sensitive tastebuds.

DH is an exception to this sorry. He loves spicy food, but can't stand too much coriander.

There are no stupid questions. Only stupid people.
I hate coriander and I despise spicy food as well. DH loves it but no mater how much I try either I still cannot like it.
I have a twin and she hates it too so maybe there is merit in the genetic theory.

I have a food blog.
I love the stuff, but it wasn't always the case.

I reckon it's one of those flavours that requires you to expose yourself to it a few times before you actually like it. Then eventually you really love it.

Hater here. Much to my frustration. I can eat the seeds no problem its the leaves that have a foul taste to me. I do eat it though in an effort to learn to like it. No success to date. I love spicy food too.

Love spicy food, love chilli, don't really like coriander. I can eat it in small amounts, but prefer not to have it.

I love lots of coriander and also spicy foods. My mum makes a divine coriander dip for when she has a glut of coriander:

Place into blender
2 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon black peppercorns
½ cup lime or lemon juice

Then blend in:
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup coriander (including roots, stems & leaves)
1 teaspoon dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons coconut cream
2 tablespoons peanut butter
Chill to set.

This dip freezes/ defrosts really well too, so you can make a heap in advance. Yum!!
