My lab gets really distressed at fireworks, so much so that we have not been able to go out for nye since we got her7 years ago. No big deal since we also have young kids, but I do find it distressing seeing her so upset. She already seems a little nervous, almost like she is knows something is going to happen tonight. It will be a long night for us, as she wakes us when she is upset.
Anyone else in for a long night.....? |

My Sam is ok with fireworks, but we have my Sister's big boofy staffy cross here. No idea what she is like with them and we have low fences so both dogs will be safely inside when we go out. Hope my couch cushions are in one piece when we get home from tea!
Hope your pup settles. This post has been edited by Rebothy: 31/12/2012, 07:48 PM |

Oh yes us too. Our jack Russell is sitting perched on the edge of the lounge like she is ready.
I have two new bones out to try and distract her with, plus just turned on a pedestal fan which is quite loud hopefully to drain out the noise. I think DS is still awake, after a bad night of his sleeping last night I'm not sure all the barking and crying will help with that either tonight. |

Mine are all inside, settled for the evening. There's a party in full swing next door, and I expect it will get louder as more booze gets consumed, and I also expect there will be fireworks later but the dogs won't be going outside.

Our 10 yr old lab hates any fireworks/loud noises, and totally freaks out.
We now lock her in the pool area tied up cause she will try anything to get inside. We are taking shifts, just to make sure she is ok. I am dreading it. |

We don't have anywhere to put her inside that we can restrain her. If she was inside she would still go silly.
At least when she is tied up we can restrict her movements. We have tried putting her in the laundry and she destroyed the door |
