In another thread it was suggested that some members might like to share and support one another in prayer this evening. Therefore, this thread is a prayer space for anyone and everyone to share; if you would like to express thanks, regrets, or anything else about the year past, and hopes and requests or anything else for the year to come, please do! (Not, I might note, limited to Christians!)

I intend to check in every so often and pray for/with whoever would like, as well as posting my own stuff (when I've thought about it!)

The day is now past and the night is at hand.
Let us pray with one heart and mind.

Father of lights, receive the prayer and praise we offer you as our evening sacrifice;
O God of life, this night, darken not to us your light.

Gracious God,

I thank you for my daughter's first year of life, especially after we were told not to expect her to make it. I thank you that she is thriving now and looks set to take on the rest of life with gusto! You've given us someone truly special to care for and delight in.

I thank you that I've studied successfully this year despite its challenges. I hope that I can use what I've learned for the good of those around you, and for your glory.

I regret how much of the year I've spent floundering and struggling emotionally. Please help me to continue to heal and find the ways towards wholeness.

I have to admit that I'm apprehensive about the coming year; its challenges will be intense, and all of them magnified by trying to mother a toddler at the same time. Please be with me, and give me the grace to come through it intact and ready for the next set of challenges!

Thank you Lord for this past year, both the good and the bad, even with the hurt and heartache we have had endured, because it has brought us closer, not just as a family but to You as well.

I pray, Father, that we may be able to find strength and comfort in You when faced by adversity, or in our darkest hours, and the courage to help those who are in need of help. I do not know what You have planned for us in the New Year, but I will do my best to take on the challenges that may come.

Amen.

The night has passed and the day lies open before us.
As we rejoice in the gift of this new year,
so may the light of your presence, O God,
set our hearts on fire with love for you;
now and forever.

"Dear Lord
Please have a hedge of protection around all those travelling on our roads.
We ask that you protect them and keep them safe.
And for those in holiday destinations where there is water - keep them safe.

We commit 2013 into your Hands.

Thank-You, In Jesus name, Amen.
