I'm slowing going insane
 DS can no longer put himself to sleep and if he does he will only stay asleep for 45mins to an hour in the morning. It is such a struggle to get him to sleep and lately he is becoming hysterical when trying. I can see he wants to sleep but it is like he has forgotten how to. Poor little mite. I've tried patting, shushing, singing, rocking in the pram but nothing is working. I end up getting so frustrated and just give up. I'm worried that 1 hour during the day is just not enough sheep for a baby. He usually goes down at 7 and wakes once during the night and up again around 6.30-7am. What would you do? Just let him have 1 short day sleep? Luckily he does not get cranky when tired. His eyes look like they are about to fall out but he will sit and play happily. Help! Any advice is welcome. check out troublesometots.com... I'm not sure if there's a good or bad way to get kids to sleep properly, but her blog is practical and funny. At least if you fail you can have a laugh at it is my theory.

I have a 10mth old that sleeps for sh*t day AND night. Seriously, don't sweat the day sleep when he sleeps so well at night.
13 hours is smack bang within the realms of normal. |

I remember I stopped bothering to give dd a morning sleep at around 11 months, she progressively became difficult to get to sleep in the morning so eventually I gave up.
She also started sleeping 12-14 hours straight at night at that age so she only had one sleep in the day, it worked very well and I could get out of the house easier and for longer. Maybe don't fight it. All the best. |

Sounds like he could be moving to 1 sleep a day. I would out him down after he has his lunch and see what happens. You might find he has a good long sleep then.

There's also a wonder week around then, which would always send my DS's sleep a bit haywire. Sometimes it would only be a problem for a week, but for one or two of the wonder weeks he struggled for about three weeks.

My 8.5 month old has one day sleep of 45 min and sleeps overnight from 8pm to 8am so I wouldn't worry.
