Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
I'm catching up with a girlfriend on Wednesday so we can sere each other and our kids for Christmas. I live in Sydney, she lives in Newcastle. Usually we take turns in coming to each other or on occasion we have met half way in Hornsby for lunch. But this time we thought it might be nice to have a picnic somewhere that the kids can play and run around.

I was thinking maybe somewhere around Mooney Mooney might be nice, but I don't know of any actual places. So please recommend a place you've been to / know of. I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks original.gif

*disclaimer yes I know technically Hornsby isn't in the middle of Sydney & Newcastle but based on traffic and the suburbs we live in it its pretty close

We met friends once near Brooklyn wharf, it's a bit further up the road, but it's a dead end so if you look on a map you will see it.

If I remember right , it had a nice size fenced playground, a swimming area which had nets around it and bbq's. It did get quite busy the day we went which was really hot!

Never forget who you are, little star
OP, check out McKell Park at Brooklyn. There is a play area, cafe, swimming baths (in the bay) and a lovely waterfront park area. It should be perfect for you.

Look it up on Google maps.

ETA: I think it might be the same one the PP above has been to!

We used to stay at home but now we have a social life ..
Putty Beach!!!

Almost exactly between the two and it's a lovely spot, with a grassy section and a beachy section. When I lived in Newcastle, my Sydney friends and I always met up there.
