i've been lurking around baby shops for the past week or so, trying to find somewhere that stocks and will match toysrus' current 25 percent off the infa-secure kompressor.

anyway, long story short, EVERY time i walk in and wait for the sales assistant to finish her spiel to the couple before me, always new parents, they're selling the meredian. today i even waited and asked if they had any kompressors in stock and she spent a good minute looking through the carseats on display to find out. do these people even know about ANY seats besides the meridian?

so tell me, is the meridian really that good? she was telling them that it's the best seat on the market because it's got AHR. i checked CREP and while the meridian is top on the list for FF/RF post 6 months, surely those results are slightly out of date since the seats they are now selling are not the 2004 models? and plenty of new seats have since come out on the market.

makes me angry that they seem to push the one seat and only the one seat.

incidentally if anyone knows of somewhere i can get the kompressor for under 180 or if BigW ever discounts the Trident or Neon (both same seat, just different covers and Neon has a slightly larger base), i'd love to know

I believe sales assistants get training from SNS about their products. With the previous old model which did not score well with CREP they were still pushing this seat. Same goes for the Maxi Rider.

Yes CREP is very out of date.

I like the SNSCompaq as it will last longer FF then the Infa, but has the same high RF markers.

Yep they do push them, they used to push the old style maxi-rider in a big way to, half my mum friends were convinced it was the safest seat ever!

I really like the compaq but if I was on a tight budget I would get the neon/compressor - love the funky orange!

We have the Baby Love Ezy-Combo which is excellent, and has a very good safety rating.

IsoloBella, can you please confirm, from what you've said here, Compaq has higher height markers when FF, but the same as Kompressor when RF, is this right?

I'm only 14 weeks pregnant, but thinking car seats already My youngest child is 7, so height markers are all new to me. From speaking to friends and my DIG, the Compaq and Kompressor seem to be the two most talked about. But if the Compaq will last longer in FF mode, then I'll stick with that. My older kids were all 5 before they needed to go into a booster, so am assuming (and hoping) this baby will be the same.

Yes the compaq has higher FF markers but the same RF height markers. The compaq markers from memory are 3 cm or so higher.

My 112cm child is at the too big markers for the Infa seat but has cm to go before reaching the marker in the Compaq. My 117cm child still fits height wise in the compaq.

Eta I was the crazy woman with tape measure at toysRus doing comparisons and then making the kids sit in the seats.

for anyone who's been looking into the kompressor as well, i've been doing some resarch as the kompressor looks like it has the smaller base when compared to the compaq..

i contacted infa secure and they confirmed that the kompressor is also sold as the trident in bigw. the neon is the same seat but with a slightly larger base. price wise the trident is $10 cheaper.

i've sworn off baby shops as of today. baby bunting is refusing to match the offer toysrus have of 25% of infasecure seats and boosters by saying that the kompressor is not included in the % off, even though i've contacted 3 toysrus stores around me who all say it IS included but they only have floorstock left. i wish shops would not advertise that they price match and then make up reasons not to when you turn up, very frustrating and a waste of time!

does anyone know if bigw has been known to discount the trident/neon or if they've ever done a x% offer similar to boysrus?

The Neon was on special a few months back so if you can wait it should come down again.
