On the 19 th December, at 3:29 am after a 2 1/2 hour natural labour, Emmaline finally made her way into our world original.gif
My contractions started at 12:30am 5-6 minutes apart, which has always been how fast everything goes with me.. My waters never break, and I have no earlier signs, so it goes from nothing to full on.. That's not always good either because it is a shock to the system..
We got to the hospital just after 1 am and I was put on the monitor to check my strength of contractions and bubs heart rate during contractions.. They never checked how dilated I was because they say that the body knows what it is doing and they encourage a more natural birth, but check dilation at that certain point when you feel the urge to push..
It was actually really calming not having the mw constantly pocking around down there lol...
Once bubs was delivered, in which time they broke my waters and after that it was full on, next cams the less than thrilling part..
Whilst pulling out the placenta, the cord snapped, and so the placenta was in there and I had to endure having my stomach pressed down on, whilst I had to try and push out the placenta.. With no contractions and no urge to push, it was not comfortable.. Then once the placenta was out, intact which was a relief, the doctor wanted to do an internal check.. That involves pushing down on my stomach whilst their hand is in there having a feel.. Not what you want after delivering a baby.. Very sensitive area and sore without having an internal done..
I prefer the delivery of bubs than the cord snapping on the mw...
original.gif Emmaline weighs 6 pounds 12, which she put on in the last few weeks, and is healthy with no health concerns..
49 cm long, head is 33.5 cm so she was an easy size to push through...original.gif
To those who have had their little treasures, CONGRATES original.gif and to those still waiting, i wish you all a safe and quick labour:)
And reading all about your births and all the wonderful stories we will have to share on here original.gif
