Not sure which way to go, I'll have a newborn and 17mth old in April so need new pram. I have owned a P&T before and stupidly sold it before DS2 as I wanted a bugaboo. Now I'll need a double again but not sure what will work best. I dont go out to the shops all that much as its just too much for the kids so isles are not really a worry. I walk occasionally but really it will be for school pick ups where the pram will get everyday use.

What works best for you? A side by side? Or Phil & teds style pram?

I used a Phil & Teds with my 20 month gap, and then my 17 month gap. I loved it, it was perfect

I would definitely chose that option again.

love my phil and teds. much prefer it to the side by side. I liked that I can be used as a single if out with one child or a double with two

P&T. At least you can use it as a single pram when the oldest one wants to walk everywhere. And they are easier to manoeuvre arounds shops as the side by sides take up much more space.

The weight distribution with two different aged children (or one in the pram, one walking) can make the pram more difficult to push..

What about a donkey? I have one for my kids, 20 month age gap. It is awesome. I love I can use it in mono or duo mode, it's a dream to push and can handle rough terrain easily. It fits through standard doorways so no issues when out and about.

I used a P&T for my 17 month gap. It was good because it can be used as a single and the toddler seat wasn't used for long. More often than not, the toddler seat was used for extra bags.

I have a P&T but never use it anymore. I much prefer my MB Duet - very slim side by side. My youngest children are just under 21 months apart.

I have no experience as yet but I've just bought a Baby Jogger City Mini GT Double and really like how user friendly it is. I love that it has foam filled tires so will never puncture - great for walking - and that every part that you can take off, such as wheels and belly bar, just slip off with the press of a button that won't break nails or catch fingers. I have the City Elite which has been great so love the Baby Jogger brand. It also fits into my small boot without having to remove the wheels. It doesn't come with any accessories, not even a rain cover, which I think is awful, so if you want the accessories it knocks the price right up as they are expensive.

I also just bought the ABC Adventure buggy which I thought would meet my needs but the fold is too long and it's just not user friendly. It's clunky and the front wheels are very wide and it's also extremely heavy. I imagine it would be a pain having to look to the side when in confounded spaces as it's so tall. To take wheels, top seat, handle bar off etc. requires effort which it shouldn't in my opinion. I'm really disappointed with it in that respect. I'm gutted as I love the look of it and it would have been so much better in shopping centres and even on pavements being a single without the length of a tandem or the width of a twin.

If you're just using it for the school run then I'd go side by side so both babes can see the view. That's the reason I didn't go for a tandem as I was concerned neither baby would want to be facing the back of a seat with no view. They also look fiddly to get the baby into and out of the back seat. Everything else I looked at seemed like a real pain to fold with having to take off the second seat before folding.

I hope I've made the right decision. I wish I had a bigger car at this point and could keep both. Not having to remove all the removable parts on the Adventure Buggy would have possibly lead me to keep that.
