 Can back braces be claimed thorugh health fund? |

My son needs a back brace for his posture and scoliosis as per physio states.
Can i claim it through health fund? Usually when my son sees phyio for treatments we can claim through medibank private extras. We also have hopsital cover. Have you claimed body brace through health fund for physio? |

Maybe if your physio writes a letter? Worth a try.
Our son needs eye patches due to a turned in eye, we can't claim the cost of those through our private health as I asked once. |

It will depend on your fund. Easiest way to find out is to call them and ask. Your physio will probably need to 'prescribe' it or write a letter to the health fund.

I didn't pay for DS's brace.
I used to see the orthopod at RCH and he wrote a referrel for the brace, and the orthotist charged it to the hospital. I would be seeing an orthopod that specialises in scoliosis first for their opinion on what's needed. Your orthopod and physio should work togeather on the best treatment plan for your DS. Margaret |

thank u, i rang them up and they said they will pay 70% of the cost but i can only claim one part of the body every 3 years.
