My blood pressure has been steady throughout this pregnancy at around 120 over 70. Today for the first time it's up to 135 over 82. There was no protein in my urine. I had it checked about a week ago as my hands were swollen and the reading was low at 100 over 60.
I'm 33 weeks. Has anyone had the odd higher reading and nothing came off it? Now I'm starting to worry about getting high blood pressure. The doc didn't seem worried but said he would keep an eye on things but I don't go back for 2 weeks. |

Hi
I'm not a medical professional, but had 2 pregnancies with PE. The Dr was only worried when the bottom number went up on me. So I'd been round 120/75 for ages, then went to 125/80 but when I went to 150/98 was when they got stressed, but I also had headaches, swelling like a balloon, chest pain near my liver, funny spots in my vision and a rushing noise in my ears. And 2+ protein in my urine. I went on medication and was induced on my EDD with DD1, went naturally at 39.6 with DD2. HTH. |

I was worried about my blood pressure so I bought a machine to monitor it at home and ease my anxiety. Maybe you could do that?
Alternatively most medical centres will let you pop in to see a nurse and get a BP reading taken, no forms or anything etc. If its any higher you can call the doc or visit your GP and ask about it. My BP has varied from 100/60 to 130/80 throughout this pregnancy (28 weeks now). |

Im no expert, however the midwife told me to give them a call if mine gets over 140/90...If your worried perhaps give the midwives a call, if anything it will put your mind at ease.

I had perfect blood pressure throughout my pregnancy but did have one high reading at about 35 weeks. It was back down at my nest visit and stayed down (until after the birth when I scored post partum PE, but I doubt it was an indicator of that!!). I wouldn't worry unless it stays up, especially if your GP isn't concerned, but some chemists do BP checks so you can always pop in and get it checked if you're really worried

I think it the low number which they keep a close eye on. This is the pressure of your blood once it's pumped out. I have a home machine coz DH has high blood pressure do I check it from time to time. Occasionally it was higher than normal but I was stressed at the time. Maybe check whether your chemist can do a check for you?

My OB (and GP and nurse and chemist) almost always have to check my BP twice as the first reading is usually a little high. It's very strange, but my OB is not concerned at all. I always laugh about having "white coat hypertension"
She's given up using the machine on me too because it always gives me a higher reading - so she just uses the old fashion cuff and stethoscope now and I don't have any problems. Like PP's have said, one slightly higher BP probably doesn't really mean much.. xox |

In my first pregnancy I had a random reading of 139/95 which is really high for me. I had no protein though, but I had a lot of swelling (it was summer). I had a day on the ward having blood tests and ctg done to ensure all was fine which it was and it came back down again.
I was fine, no PE, but they did do urine tests at every appointment after that just to be on the look out. |

Thanks for the advice. I went to the chemist yesterday and it was down to 100 over 72 which is normal for me. I might get it checked again in a week to be sure.
