This morning we were heading to the doctors, got there too early and I had time to kill. They had one of those kids photography things set up in the shopping centre, so I got a photo shoot done of DS- he's ten months, it's about time. DS was at his flirty, grinning best so that was great. Flicking through the Facebook site now, I'm not too sure about the quality.

We can't really afford a more professional photographer type thing, so it's basically this or pixie photo or something.

Does anyone have any reviews to share? Worth the price? I am thinking of getting a package on a 6 month payment plan.

I opted for b&w and colour shots, as I'm personally not really "into" the colour spotting or whatever it's called, or they offered to put his name on the photo and I wasn't very interested in that either.

Just interested to hear what others think.

I'd rather spend the money on my own camera and take photos myself. The idea of going onto a six month payment plan for photos is not something I'd be keen on.

Papilo we have a digital camera and have taken lots of shots, but you know it's not the same, there is all that stuff with the lighting etc. plus I'm not a very good photographer. It would be nice to have something to hang on the wall, IYKWIM. I feel like it's something I'll regret not having in future and I'm just trying to make it workable, but yes it is expensive for some photos, really.

The packages we are considering are $300 for 6 prints, $375 for 8 prints and a cd of the images. So that would be $23-28 a fortnight which I could budget for without too much pain.

I'm not sure if that's great value or not, but I do know that when I looked into getting a professional photo shoot of our family at one point (we were thinking of doing it as a present for our parents for Christmas), it was going to cost waaaaaaaay way outside our budget.

You would be very surprised at how inexpensive some photogs are compared to the shopping centre set ups... Just saying

I agree that lots of local photographers will be much cheaper and in my opinion better photos. Many sahms do photography and are great at it, I recent paid $150 for a photo shoot plus around 30 edited photos on a disc for me to do what I like. Ask around and I'm sure you'll find something similar.

I now use local photographers only and the price is a little more expensive but completely worth it. They also let you do a payment plan and you get many more digital images for the price. I now use extreme exposure photography, and the prices are about $695 for 20 images. The owner just sent out $300 voucher to use for the following year, so I'll be getting more taken in March using some of this towards another round. That means the price comes in at a more reasonable figure.

I recommend looking around first to see what other photographers are in your areas.

You need to do some more shopping around.
I dont live in Melbourne so not to sure whats around down there.
But here on the Gold Coast i found a lady through a local baby & Kids facebook page.
Half an hour 'mini-shoot' of my 3 month old for only $50 which included 5 high res edited images on disc, so i could print and do what i wished with them. I got my fav one printed on a huge canvas through Canvas Printers Online for only $80.

Angelic Memories Photography is in Melbourne I think and she takes some absolutely gorgeous photos. She is on Facebook and I think her prices are fairly reasonable.

I would rather support a SAHM or similar than those shopping centre chains
