Im a full time expresser for my 7wk old and currently using the above machine which I have borrowed from my local maternity unit. When I went to pick it up I was told I could have it for as long as I need it.

I just had a phone call to say that they have a lady who needs it so can I give it back. I have told them that I can't as I'm still using it and hope to use it for a little while longer. They then asked me if I could buy my own but at a couple of thousand I don't see the point when I plan to stop expressing when I go back to work (in July).

Does anyone know where I can hire one?

Thanks

ETA - I have tried a couple of other electric breast pumps thy don't seem to work as well.

Have you tried calling ABA? I know they have pumps for hire but I'm unsure what brands. Also I believe some chemists have them for hire too.

Good luck, I hope you find one original.gif

ETA: Maybe somewhere like this can help: http://www.nursingangel.com.au/categories/...-a-Breast-Pump/

Thanks. I live in a small country town and our chemist only sells a manual one. Our local ABA LC has one but it has been hired out already.

You could try the link below and see if another town has one for hire.
Most people wouldn't be buying a Lactina Select, too expensive but I know that some people buy them off ebay, who knows what you will be getting, it may not work well.
Alternatively you could purchase a Medela personal double pump ie Pump in Style or Freestyle pump, they are around the $500-800 mark or cheaper.
Most women who long term express will move to a personal pump once supply is established.
I used a different brand pump for 15 months, it worked well, it was an Ameda pump (Purely Yours).
Good luck!

The Medela Pump In Style is no longer made/stocked anymore. I've got a Medela Freestyle which I bought from Nursing Angel (linked by PP) and so far, so good!

I personally wouldn't buy a Medela pump off ebay as they're not a closed system. I have heard good things about the Ameda Purely Yours pumps too though, and as they're closed they would be okay to buy second-hand.

Puff, you can just get a medela freestyle (latest) or Unimom double pump and they are equally good. Don't need the ex medela hosp pumps. I use the medela pump in style I love it but its discontinued now. Unimom has a double pump which is hosp grade. And very affordable.

I just bought a Medela freestyle for about 500 online if you want one to buy. My lactation consultation said its one of the best.
I know nursing angels website hires them too online so probably doesn't matter where you are.

This is a tricky one, the advertising says that this Korean manufactured pump is a hospital grade, but is it really?
Hosp grade usually means a stronger and more durable motor, a better ability to remove milk and that they can be used by multiple users.
It isn't used in Hosps in Aus, only the Medela Symphony or Lactina and the Ameda Elite are at present, they have the track record as they have been used for many years.
I've heard mixed reports of it being great but also that it has harmed nipples.
Sorry for the diversion OP.

If you don't need a double pump...you could get the Medea swing ( if still made) I purchased mine 4 years ago....it's now gone through myself and 5 of my closest girlfriends for all our children......still going strong.......
