Mum to two
Hi,

I have just got a Nespresso Pod coffee maker. Does anyone know if these can take universal pods or not?
I am looking at buying some reusable pods for making coffee and tea with and know there are some machines the universal ones don't fit.

Thanks

We use the universal brand pods from Coles. I'm not sure of the brand name though.

There are some that are for sale in supermarkets that fit the nespresso - can't remember the name though.

Oooh.... shiny
unsure.gif I'm not sure what you mean by universal pods? Do you mean re-usable pods? Or another brand of pod?

There are re-usable Nespresso pods you can get off ebay which last about 20 uses each then need to be replaced, but it lets you use non-Nespresso coffee of whichever blend you want provided you grind it etc.

I also think Woolies has recently released a pod coffee that can be used in Nespresso machines but I'm not 100% on that one.

You won't be able to use the Aldi coffee pods in your Nespresso machine unless you want to play around with opening the Aldi capsules and transferring the contents to re-usable Nesspresso type pods as they're a completely different shape. Most brand name machines/coffees try to use a proprietary shape so that you're 'locked in' to using their coffee, so your best bet would be to have a look at the Woolies ones or the re-usables on ebay.

*disclaimer: I haven't used the ebay ones or the Woolies ones. However I have seen a youtube video of a DiBella coffee dude grinding coffee and using the ebay re-usable ones in a Nespresso machine*

You can buy reusable pods from eBay or amazon. You fill them with your own coffee. I haven't tried them but the coffee snobs claim that the coffee is likely fresher than the coffee you get in the pods.

Just remember that if you use non Nespresso pods it can void your warranty. I have no idea how they would prove that you had, but I would probably stay with the Nespresso ones unless it was a coffee emergency original.gif

Loving life as a Mama!
Can I ask why you want other pods apart from the Nespresso ones? Cost? Convenience? Taste?
