So after 3 miscarriages, this time I've reached the magical 2nd trimester, and had a great NT scan on Monday. My little one is looking perfect and I can finally start to really believe this is happening original.gif original.gif

I'm considering doing a 16 week 3D gender scan. The site I'm looking at says if they can't determine gender, they get you back another day for free, to try again. I never found out until birth with my 3 older kids, but this time all of us are desperate to know what this baby is original.gif The earlier the better wink.gif

Just wondering what other people's experiences are with these early gender scans?

Thanks.

I had one with this baby and found out bubs is a he. This was confirmed at my 20 week morph scan. It can't be garunteed though as my friend had a he at 16 weeks but a she at 20 weeks as the nub that all babies have hadn't gone in yet. Most of the time they can be pretty spot on though.

They couldn't confirm but thought boy at 16 weeks, even I thought it looked like a boy.

19 week scan it was definitely a girl original.gif

Hmmm 2 examples of them getting it wrong already!

Thanks for replying original.gif So if I do this, I should tell my kids we *think* it's a xxx, but we'll have another look in a few more weeks after that!

Why not just wait until the 20 week morph scan? That scan is really comprehensive and takes up to 45 minutes or so to do.

I didn't tell my kids the sex of our last baby, despite us knowing. They got to discover it for themselves at the birth.

Well of course that's an option, but I was just curious about anyone that had done this earlier.

I found out at 15 weeks when I had an appointment with my OB - so not a gender specific scan so to speak. There was no mistaking that I am having a little he.

I had it done at at 13 weeks and again at 16. Both times they were 99.99% sure of a girl. 20 week scan said girl, 32 week scan confirmed once again it was a girl. I gave birth to a girl.

At 16w I participated in a group where students can practice doing ultrasounds (including 3D). I was there for about an hour and had 5 students plus their supervisor say that they were pretty sure I was having a boy. 3 weeks later the 19w morphology scan showed that without a doubt I was having a girl, and yep- she was a girl.
