Hello hello!!!

I just introduced my self in the comfy couch (very comfy indeed! ) and decided to start with a big fat post right away...

I am PCOS. I was diagnosed yeeeearsss and yeeeeears ago, when I was 16. I have alway taken the pill, which worked just fine for my uncooperative ovaries, but I have been doing some experimenting over the last year. I was off the pill for about 8 months as per Dr. since my period decided to stop visiting even while taking the pill (WTH?!?!?!?! ), nothing happened (pregnancy- or period- wise ) We weren't really TTC back then, but it was a good test run.

Went to my Dr again, did some test, decided to take pill again for six months and do more tests then. But after taking it for like 1 month, we received confirmation that mah man had bee hired by a very good company here in Sydney, and we would be relocating in the next couple of months. I decided to take the pill for only 3 months, went back to Dr. and explained that I wanted to take all my tests before leaving so that I could have the results asap. The plan was to have them in order to start seriously TTC right after landing (would have loved to start on the flight but might have seemed rude to other passengers.... ).

We are now settled in our new house (moved in last week so still half-furnished, hehe!) and I decided to start looking at support groups and things like that, and found this forum!

One of the things that I have to do first, is loose some weight. Damn PCOS messed with my body real good! But it's not something new since I have been struggling with my weight even since I was dx, so i won't dwell on that...

Luckily, we found an apartment with gym and pool, and I am not working at the time, so I will be spending a lot of time there hopefully, at least one hour every day! I already started and hit the treadmill yesterday and the day before, so I just need to stay focused!

And then, the questions to you lovely ladies BEGIN!!!!

Given that we have been "unprotected" for 4 months now, and another 8 months before that, and nothing happened, should i think about going to the doctor already?

Should i just wait untill i loose some weight? my goal is around 10-15kgs, although i will be happy as a hippo with 5! hahahahaha! i think i am reasonably healthy, eat my veggies and my fruits and suff (just need to stop snacking ).

If you read all the way to the end, I really appreciate it, i know how tyring listening to me can be when i really get going! hahahahahaha!

welcome even though I don't have pco (found out by ultrasound) I have the symptoms there are lots of ladies here that do have pco or pcos please join in the buddy groups or another group here we will help you the best we can

Oh I know exactly how you feel, I had the merina to help with my endometriosis for a year but my PCOS got out of control while on it so I went back onto the pill for 6 months to get it under control. I am now up to my 5th cycle trying to get pregnant (need to test around the 18th jan so that needs to hurry up) my last cycle I had no period & no sign of it coming. I got so excited thinking I was pregnant but no I couldn't get into see my OB/gyn so went to my GP's back up (who has no idea ggrrr) she told me "oh I think it's just your endo or PCOS playing up so nothing to worry about" Aaarrgghhh WHAT nothing to worry about I'm pretty sure that is something to worry about, I'm really worried that my body can't cope with not being on some sort of hermone contraception for very long and I'm only 24 so it's 'meant' to be 'easy' ggrrrSo yes after that rambling WELCOME I think we are in a similar boat, here's hoping we both fall pregnant VERY soon Good Luck!

Can you get a referral to a specialist?

I have PCOS and conceiving was rather straight forward. Dr gave me some clomid (take it days 2-6 I think), then I had an ultrasound around day 13 I think to make sure that the dose was correct. Took a few goes to get the correct dosage and when the Dr finally saw one large excellent follicle, he did an IUI. It worked first go, I was very lucky.

This is through the private system so it was a bit pricey (IUI was $880), on top of the appointments, but I'm 34 weeks now, so it was all worth it.

I would seriously consider going to a fertility specialist to get a full work up of your bloods, get a new ultrasounds etc so you know what is going on right now, not in the past. Your fertility specialist depending on your results should give you a more concrete plan of what is right for you and your individual circumstances and that is a relief in itself.
I have PCOS and I know how difficult it is and how helpless you can feel with this condition.
