Good idea on hiring the hospital bassinets, didn't even know you could do it. We have borrowed a bassinet from my brother and it is great but you can't easily see into it which is the only downfall.

I use the trusty baby bjorn with DS2, he loves it. One of the mums at kinder has the Ergo which she thinks is better but It doesn't look like it offers enough back support to me. Never seen a Manduca so can't comment on that one.

Seems like most people are up for a private Facebook group. I'm just not sure how to set it up. Anyone else know their way around Facebook?

Had Xmas lunch with my family today. DS2 barely got any sleep all day due to the racket made by my sisters kids. Was pretty annoyed given we weren't even allowed to ring her doorbell or make a peep when her kids were babies. I'm usually pretty okay with a bit of noise but today it was quite clear we were having trouble getting him down....argh!

Haha WT! We are having exactly same thing! DS2 couldn't nap properly whole day as we were out since 11am. Poor bub had several rounds of falling aeep only to be woken up each time due to car stopping, DS1' noise etc...I am not sure why he's not sleeping well in the car and in shopping centres (in pram) as I thought usually babies will (dS1 was)...maybe every child is different.

Anyway he was so difficult to put down for his last afternoon nap and at bedtime...super cranky and had to be carried till deep sleep before putting him down in cot (usually cuddle and sshhing for bed time is enough)...had an overtired bub I think! Makes me upset about going out I think It's better to avoid going out for long hours after this experience.

And we have been giving him half strength formula hoping to stop the diarrhea soon and somehow that could have affected him. He went down after a lot of carrying at 9pm, woke at 10pm and 130am crying only after milk did he sleep again. Gave him back his full 120ml hoping he sleep better ano no diarrhea pls!

Indigo, poor DD and Mummy...hope both of you get better sleep soon. Thanks for reminding about the sleep cycle! I forgot about that. You mention to wait and let them cry a while before getting them up? sorry can't rem your exact words...but what if they are crying cos wanting to continue sleeping? When bub cries after one cycle i am not sure what he wants, is it needing comforting/carrying to wake up or is it wanting to sleep further? if not attend ASAP wont they cry till they wake? I tend to attend asap. What if I want him to go to the next cycle? I think that's the tricky part for me.

M2tds, if it's a proper cry, I'll get her up. I don't bother with resettling naps. But if it's just a bit of fussing or noise, I'll wait and often she falls back asleep again into the next cycle. If it escalates, then it's time to get up as it means she is hungry or wet.

I feel the same about big days out of the house. It really mucks their sleep around. Some times it can't be helped though. DD doesn't always sleep well at shopping centers either. Darn it!

WT, I have the same issue with friends who used to make you tip toe around their babies now being less than considerate. You know, when my friends had their babies, I didn't ever tell them how to parent. The same people now just love telling me what they think I'm doing wrong!

I found this book to be quite helpful...Your Sleepless Baby: the Rescue Guide by Rowena Bennett. It was only $2.99 or similar on amazon kindle store. I just downloaded it to my phone which has the kindle reader app.

Hi ladies, wishing you all a wonderful Christmas! Hope all of us have a great time feasting and hopefully have a bit of rest too with family members getting together and perhaps lend few hands taking care of bub...I know I am going to do that tml with my friends over lunch...will be busy handing him over so I can be hands free for a few hours! Last year's Christmas was still sad but all of us got here with our dream this year so it would be a really special time.

How was everyone's Xmas?

We had ana amazing Xmas. DS got so many presents it wasn't funny. He got 22 books which I liked as I am a bit of a bookworm the only problem with him being so spoilt is where to put everything.

Had some issues with my youngest niece being mean towards DS because we wouldn't let her walk around holding him (she is 3) and she was quiet cruel towards him, hitting and flicking him. She also tried to break one of his presents because I wouldn't let her keep it, I just wish SIL did something about it instead of getting upset at me for telling her daughter no.

Yesterday DS did a proper smile when I smiled at him, today he hasn't stopped smiling

Last night he slept for 8 hours straight which wasn't surprising as he didn't get much sleep during the day.

I still cannot believe that this time last year we didn't enjoy Xmas due to losing a baby and this year was the complete opposite.

I hope everyone else's Xmas was just as good.
