Hi All
I am wanting to be a personal shopper, I constantly shop online finding bargins etc for my own children, but want to do this professionally for others. Where do I start? and how do I get the word out there that I do this?? What cost would someone pay for this service? Also, would love if you could give me feedback on my website. http://www.cleverideas.com.au Thanks This post has been edited by cooltate23: 27/12/2012, 12:14 PM |

I am not sure that the people who would use a personal shopper are motivated by price?
Have you done some research as to the profile of the person who would use such services and what they want? Personally I would pay for some-one who would save me time by sourcing what I need quickly and perhaps show me stuff I didn't evn know was available. How much I would pay would be based on how valuable that knowledge was to me. |

If you were going to do it - I think you should aim at people who are not internet savvy. So you'd have to market externally. Because the people who are good at technology probably already are shopping online. I think you need to target those people who have no idea how to find something through search engines, know nothing about shopping carts etc.

Katakacpk why are you thinking the internet savy would not be interested?
For me it is about time being precious. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you have the time and motivation to do it. |

Because I think those who are already online are already internet savvy and therefore know how to find a bargain online, and are already those that make online shopping big. However the people who want to find bargains online but do not know how, would be those you want to target I think.

I guess I am wondering if those waitng to find bargains would be happy to pay a fee if they are so cost sensitive? Perhaps I am wrong.
I was picturing those with a higher income and perhaps time poor wanting to outsource it. |

I'm ok at shopping online but time poor, so I would love it OP. I hate searching and trawling for bargains, I would be an ideal customer

It's more than being able to find a bargain on-line though, it's being able to source an entire outfit that works. I'm internet savvy, and can find great pieces - it's just putting them together that I have problems with.
Because for me, a person shopper is responsible for putting together a 'look' for you, not just finding bargains. |

The people I know who hav used personal shoppers are cashed up and want professional advice as to what would best suit them. |

i dont want to be a personal stylist for someone. I am no good at finding clothes for someone else
Its more about finding christmas, and birthday gifts etc for time poor people. Mums who can't get out to buy gifts for their children, older people who don't have time or don't have any ideas for their grandchildren I would research and source the products for a small fee, then get the item wrapped and shipped to the customer. (but providing the customer with all the details first before proceeding with purchase) This post has been edited by cooltate23: 26/12/2012, 02:44 PM |
