OP, can I add my two cents worth? Fetal dopplers can cause just as much anxiety as they do assurance. This is because it can be quite difficult, as an inexperienced lay person, to locate the fetal heart beat, especially before the 20 week mark. I know a few women who hired/bought them, and ended up in tears at their local hospital, convinced of the worst, only to find that all was fine.
I'm not sure how far along you are (can't open your Blog, sorry), but given your sad experience with Michael, would your OB consent to regular scans to ease your mind? I have had 7 losses, at various points in pregnancies, and I know the fear you are probably experiencing. My OB therefore let me have weekly scans, just a few minutes each, until I was able to feel movement. Then we cut it back to fortnightly, as my anxiety started to drop. I'm wishing you all the very best, OP
