Hoping someone can help me!

We are going to yum cha tomorrow morning with friends and I am 9wks pg (no one knows). I've only been to yum cha once before and I just ate everything with no idea what anything was.

Can anyone give me a quick cheat sheet of what is safe to eat there when pg and what isnt? I think it will be a bit suss if I dont touch anything lol

go for the steamed stuff, off the "steamer" trolley - that way you know that its going to be STEAMING hot

maybe stay away from the fried stuff, as sometimes they can be cool

otherwise - enjoy!!!

Everything in yum cha is fine as it's either deep fried or steamed.

They might have an ala carte menu where you can order a stir fry.

Just ask if you can see what's in the steamers (pretending you can't understand / have never had that before), and if they are steaming hot, away you go.
If its busy, things should be turned over really quickly, so limited risk of salmonella. Just don't eat the stuff they have offered to every table and is now lukewarm.

I was craving for yum cha every week during early pregnancy and ate every weekend. Steamed or fried should be ok but there are some to avoid such as jellyfish cold dish...there are also a few other cold dishes you should avoid...I always avoid the egg tarts too just to be on safer side. Some cooked dishes are made of animal insides eg beef stomach so always ask what they are before eating. Most yum cha stuff are ok. Enjoy.

Why? It's cooked. I ate them at all my yum cha when pregnant.
