I have just started to experience RLS at night and it's difficult to sleep, as I need to keep my leg moving. Dr google states that it affects 40 percent of pregnant women.
Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on how to treat?
Jane

I had it during both of my pregnancies and really, it was horrible. I found a warm bath before bed helped a bit. You could try eating bananas and drinking milk as some believe it's related to a magnesium and/or potassium deficit. I'd also try an osteopath- it certainly can't hurt. You have my sympathy, as it's not fun at all.

I had it with my 1st pregnancy it would start at 9pm every night without fail. The only that helped me was a really hot shower, I would stand in there until the hot water ran out. I hope that this helps, its very annoying. Good Luck

Had it with bub #1 and just starting now with bub #2 and l found it to be worse when l'm tired. I still get it in bed at night but once l fall asleep l have no more kicking. nothing worked really well for me, the best fix was to lie on the bed with my feet resting at an almost 45 degree angle on the wall! lol plus making sure l went to bed and sleep as soon as the twitching got really bad lol

I experienced it in first preg and earlier on in this preg. First preg - I took magnesium powder as I was also getting leg cramps. This helped somewhat with the restlessness.
This preg - I waited it out (whilst elevating legs also) as my physio said it appeared to be caused by nerves being pressed due to movements in my joints etc from SPD. I also applied hot wheat packs on my legs. I'm very lucky that after 2 weeks it went away, and has only come back once for about a week. If only the leg cramps would stop now...

Much sympathy OP. I thought it was going to drive me insane first time around!!

Blackmores makes a magnesium supplement that is safe for pregnant women (there is a higher dose one, but this one says it is safe on the packaging).

I can only send my empathy your way. I had it for solid two weeks with DS1 and on and off for the rest of the pregnancy; it was the worse pregnancy symptom I had, well worse than the morning sickness.

I wish I had have known about the above mentioned solutions!

Magnesium worked for me. I found it wasn't just restless legs, my whole body got restless at night. I'd pace the room watching TV lol.

I also suffered from it through out both my pregnancies. As long as I took the Magnesium tablets it seemed to keep most of it at bay.

Start taking it asap, it's a horrible thing.
