Ok i think i know the first answer looking at the photos myself but a 2nd, and maybe 3rd came up...

so i brought a dress and shoes for MIL's wedding... but i feel i should wear the shrug with it, mainly because i hate my arms and no sleeves makes me feel very concious of them.

without shrug

with shrug

2nd - should i be wearing stockings with it?

and 3rd - make up.... umm i don't own any and haven't worn any since my graduation in 2000... should i be wearing some?

(disclaimer hair is obviously not styled, but there will be many of ringlets...)

Stronger than ever.
I am no fashionista and I don't own any makeup either!

But I like it without shrug best. Makeup, I don't think is necessary, you are very pretty without it. original.gif

Cute dress!

You look more comfortable in the shrug, however I think your arms are fine! Could always try a wrap if the shrug isn't working for you. I personally love the dress.

A good bra and posture (shoulders back!) makes a difference, and I find that shapewear always makes my dresses fit better.

Make up - go very natural, just a bit of foundation, mascara and nude lipstick if you don't wear it all the time. The Body Shop do great make up application, and if you buy $40 worth of product they don't charge you for it. Need to book though.

No stockings with open toed shoes. If you are worried about your legs or if it is cold, wear stockings with closed toe heels.

No necklaces but, maybe a nice chunky black bangle? Or a cute little purse will accessorise it perfectly.

Have fun!!!

Save me Barry!
Definitely shrug. I don't wear makeup either so no idea on that. I would avoid tights with open toed shoes. Not sure why, I just think it looks weird

The dress is really pretty. If you wear the shrug do you have a bra that fits better than the one you are wearing in pic?
Also will you be too hot with the long sleeves? They'd drive me crazy and I'd end up pushing them up to 2/3 sleeves before the happy couple said I DO.

Nice dress. I think go with whichever option with which you are most comfortable. I second the suggestion of light make up and accessories. Curls will be very cute with that style of dress too.

thanks for your reply!

i am more comfortable in the shrug but that may change when it gets to 39deg on the day... it isn't going to be cold at all!

the necklaces in the photo are the only jewellery i own (they are my everyday wear and are rarely taken off), but i have a black purse/clutch bag to go with it as i didn't think my plus gir (from invader zim) bag would work Tounge1.gif

hmmm the application thing could be an option... however getting on the 23rd of dec might be unlikely!

Does the dress need altering?

It kind of looks like the shoulder straps need to be pulled up a bit, and the black band under the bust could sit flatter (it looks loose). Sometimes with an empire line emphasizing the bust and the smallest part of your ribs is most flattering. Yours looks like it could be a little big for you.

If you want to cover arms, I would go a wrap rather than the cardigan. Without stockings looks nice.
