Heat rash?, How do you tell?

My 2yo has had a fine pink blanching rash for a few days. He has not been unwell or had a temp or anything recently, although he has been a bit more irritable which i put down to the fact he's cutting his 2yo molars and the fact it's fricking hot. Initially, I thought it was just a heat rash but now I'm not so sure as its covering over half of his body. I can't get in to my GP and I don't feel right trying to get an emergency squeeze-in appointment because he's not sick at all, he just has a rash. I've googled for images that match and the closest I can find is roseolla, but he hasn't had a fever or any other symptoms so I think it's pretty unlikely. How do you tell if a rash is just heat rash?

Your pharmacist could tell you whether or not the doctor is a good idea.

I just googled Roseolla and it's pretty similar to what my son's heat rash used to look like, only DS's was more 'pimply'. My son used to get it all over his torso, thighs and upper arms - he was a very sweaty, active toddler in a day care centre that didn't have air conditioning. It never fazed him - we just used to douse him in curash and wait for a cool change. The pharmacist idea is great, though - they see tons of it.

My son has a similar rash too but more pimply looking than the roseolla pictures. He has not had a fever and is in a great mood so I put down to heat rash.

I took my DD to the pharmacist to look at a rash the other day (It was right near 6pm, a Friday, and was going to have to wait until Monday or go to an after hours/weekend doctor otherwise). They didn't mind. I actually think he gave a better diagnosis than the dr I took her to on Monday as it wasn't getting better. Pharmacist though it was staph, dr thought it was molluscum contagiosum that she's scratched. I've since googled what they both look like and I think the doctor was wrong (and she'd not scratched it in any case). Its cleared up with the antibiotics the dr prescribed anyway.

The pharmacist thinks it's a combination of heat rash and eczema that's been flared up from the heat rash.
