DS5 will finish daycare soon ahead of starting school. He has been going to the same centre since he was 8 months old - it's been a great centre and lovely carers. I wanted to give his carers a gift when he leaves - am trying to avoid the chocolate/flowers route.
Has anyone got any ideas please? Thanks in advance! |

We gave gift vouchers this year (was DS's first year of care) so we gave $30 vouchers to his regular carers. Hope that helps.

What about a basket full of supplies they can use in the room. Like sticky tape, cardboard, pens, pencils etc. Depending on the centre a lot of the time the staff are putting in out of their own pocket as they don't get enough budget from the company.

I was also going to suggest vouchers. A voucher for a beautician or a massage I think would be valued in that job. I find it hard enough looking after my five (including DH here) let alone more children

Maybe a picture drawn by your DS of his carers & framed??? (DD did this 2 years ago, she did 4 pictures and the staff absolutely loved them)
Small framed picture of your DS and a hand written thank you from him. This year DD painted canvases for her 3 teachers which went down a treat. Having worked in CC for a very long time, I always loved the gifts that had some thought put into them, eg, the handmade coffee / tea mug, the hand drawn pictures / thank you messages, pictures of me with the child framed, etc Some of my first "kids" are now turning 18 and I still have some of the wonderful gifts from them. One of my favourite gifts I've ever received as a teacher was a framed painting (of me) created by the child. I love it, it still hangs on my wall!

Seriously??? That's awful Almost every centre I have worked at, it has been normal to go and buy supplies from our own pockets to supplement. |

I bought some nice wine for my daughters' carers. I figure that even if they don't like wine then they can re-gift it. It turns out that all 3 carers said they love white wine so it was a success
