I bought my husband a jacket from Target that he ummed and ahhed about and has now decided he doesn't want.
So I go looking for the receipt to return it and I can't find it anywhere... (very unusual for me, I never throw out receipts if I think I may need it).

I know that Target will accept a return without the receipt but you only get whatever the price it's selling for at the moment.
I looked the jacket up online and it's currently 20% off (I paid full price).

The 20% off sale on mens clothing ends on December 24th, so I could either return it now and only get 80% of my money back, or wait until after the 24th and hope that it goes back up to full price so I can return it for what I initially paid. The trouble with that is the boxing day sales may take even more money off it and I'll get even less back.

So what would you do EB'ers? Return now and take the 20% hit (about $20), or chance a return after Christmas?

I'd get it back now... by Boxing Day I would expect something like 40% off.

Plus the crowds at the returns counter will be horrendous!

I would take it back now and be grateful that they accept it back without a receipt

I am stuck in the same situation with a Steelcraft Cruiser. We don't have the receipt and don't want it (I hate it) but it is still sealed and boxed...never opened. Don't really want $349 store credit when I have nothing to buy & they don't have a stroller I want to replace it with.

You are unlikely to get cash back, just a store credit

Yep, I'd take the 80% now rather than risk getting less! And then probably find the receipt in the car on the way home...

Target will now only give store credit if you don't have the receipt and its not Target branded.

I had a similar thing happen with a top the other week, I got another top that was the same original price so really I didn't make a loss....It was definately a store credit too, it was all the offered given I had no receipt.

Don't forget though that the store credit lasts for awhile- 6 months or something- and can be spent in dribs and drabs.
