Went out shopping today to get some Christmas Presents for the kids. K-mart was packed and there were no trolleys so I was trying to struggle carrying a box with a chair in it and a box with a desk. All the K-mart attendants who saw me struggling ignored me.

However two lovely younger men saw me and offered to help me(which I accepted) they carried the desk box all the way from the back of the store to the cash register and offered to carry it to the car for me.

However I declined the escort to the car as trolleys turned up just as I was paying for my items.

So to the two guys thanks for your help, your parents did a fantastic job raising you.

This thread reminded me of an incident a few years ago. I was walking through a local park and came across a lady who had fallen over while taking her 2 Rottweilers for a walk - she had hurt herself and couldnt get up and 2 boys about 10 were sitting with her and trying to keep the big and quite protective dogs under control. They were so very brave. I got the lady and dogs home in my car but in the kerfuffle I didnt get the names or contact details of the boys. I wish I had as I wanted to tell their parents what stars they were! I told them plenty of times while loading up woman and aggressive dogs though! The lady funny enough never said thanks to the boys or me for our efforts!

I have two acts of human kindness that happened to me recently.

The first is the lady who helped me after I fell badly down the bus steps while holding my 2yo DD. She held DD for me so I could untangle my legs and stand up, helped me to the bus stop seat and then insisted on helping me walk home and carried some of my bags for me. It was a slow and painful shuffle for me and I couldn't have done it alone, despite it only being a short 1.5 blocks. She did this for me even though she had her 3 primary school children with her and probably just wanted to go home with them.

The second is the Kmart employee who picked up my DD's water bottle and gave it back to me. I'm currently in a wheelchair when out and about because of the above accident that resulted in one sprained ankle and one very badly sprained ankle plus hairline fracture. It is very painful to walk much or even be on my feet with crutches. I was in the wheelchair with DD on my lap, her water bottle rolled off my lap, and I couldn't reach it without getting DD off me and then getting out of the chair. DH was somewhere else in the store so he couldn't help me. Before I could even lift DD off my lap the Kmart employee grabbed DD's water bottle and handed it back to me. I thanked him. I was so relieved that I didn't have to retrieve it because I was tired and my ankles were hurting, and I had a cold so felt pretty miserable in general. It was only a very small act of human kindness but it was one that sure made me feel better.

Also a big thanks to all of the people who have gotten out of the way so I can navigate in the wheelchair around skinny store aisles that have extra stuff on the floors everywhere. I'm looking forward to being able to walk around again.

When DD was only a few weeks old I had just finished the groceries and was heading to the car - only to see a storm had come in and it was pouring. I had no umbrella.

A very kind gentleman heard me say to DD well we'we are going to have to wait for the rain to stop' and stopped and offered to hold his umbrella over DD in the trolley while I got to the car.

Once I got DD in he offered to stand there while I got the groceries in. I thanked him but said I was okay as he was getting soaked!

I had a few immovable appointments on Monday and DS was in post-chickenpox quarantine. My parents are away and my other babysitter cancelled at the last minute as she had double-checked with her Mum who couldn't remember if she had had CP. My other friends I would call on all have babies too young to have been vaxed.

In desperation, I went to see my neighbour. Not only was she able to watch DS, she insisted I stay out for an extra hour after my appointments to have a quiet coffee.
