We have a list of perth family lawyer contacts.

How do we find the right one to protect our daughter in a grandparental rights case against us?

What do we ask?

In the short how the hell do we start now we have two pages of names?

Ask if they frequent the courts and know the circuit of family law judges and have knowledge of that inner sanctum. Ask how long they have been practising the law in that regard and also ask if they are a partner in the law firm you are going after and if they own their own firm ask about their history and where they have worked.
That should give you a gauge of how they are suited for your business. The more expensive they are does not imply experience either it is what they want to bill and some partners in law firms have to clock up a % of billable hours to remain in the firm too and retain the % of profits within the firm.

There isn't necessarily any reason to go with a big firm. Many family lawyers work as sole practitioners or in smaller firms. You should ask around, see if anyone can recommend someone. Otherwise, go with someone with a lot of experience, no one too young and fresh! Also make sure you understand how they will bill you, and get as much paperwork together as you can before you speak to them for the first time - you don't want them charging you while you're getting organised.

Sorry to hear this is even necessary! bbighug.gif
