I was wondering if others thought it was safe to eat ham off the bone at Xmas. My family has a cold Xmas lunch with the main items being ham off the bone, cold turkey and cold roast chicken. Since I'm only 6 weeks pregnant no one in the family knows yet. I'm wondering how I'm gonna get around this, considering I usually can't wait to dig in!

I did at Xmas with my first pregnancy. Just not the first few slices and only the day it was opened. However there has been a few recalls on ham in the past few months. I wouldn't risk it now I don't think.

I would let the family know (personal choice I know) but I see no reason- for myself - not to let them know.

No ham, no alcohol!!! I'm not hamming either and would probably not risk it.
Could you bring something extra yummy you can eat? I'm bringing some steak and vege skewers for the BBQ - although my family know I am pg, I understand a bit harder for you if you would like to keep your pregnancy quiet...

Do your family know that you're trying - it's pretty easy to explain that because you're trying you could be pregnant at any time and therefore have to act like it always.

I'm not planning on eating ham, cold turkey or cold chicken.

I will eat salad prepared by myself and my mum, also I'm making a yummy vego quiche which I'll eat hot for lunch.

I will miss the ham but don't want to take any chances.

I wont be having the ham. We have lamb & turkey as well so I'll be right. Not worth the risk.

I ate all the no-nos while pregnant. My OB said the chances of infection are very slim and not too overthink things. That's just me though.
