Is it possible for opk's to detect the LH only after ovulation?

I've been doing opk's for the past 5 days 4 times a day as I know from past experience that detecting my LH surge is hard. I've had two lines for the last 4 days with them getting darker but not positive. Yesterday I had o pains & then today my temp has spiked suggesting I ovulated (which would be on time for my cycle).

I did another opk this morning & it is darker & then just now & it's almost positive.

I am certain I've ovulated (pain & temp rise) so why are the opk's only now positive? Is the opk or temp more likely to be wrong?!

Photos of opk's (today's are the top 2). None are positive but chart & symptoms indicates already o'd.

Wait and see what your temperature does over the next few days. Occasionally I see a temp spike before ovulation which can go back down again then rise again. I find the whole picture gives the best results for me: CM, CP, OPKs and temp. CM and CP tend to be the most reliable for me now that I know my "pattern".

BUT...
Opk from this morning is as close to positive as I've had. I did an opk at 11.30 last night & it was similar but slightly lighter. I still wouldn't call either "positive" but they are certainly closer than the ones in the days leading up to and of my supposed o day?! What's going on??

Get bding you are surging. I would go with the OPKs.

However I used OPKs (not IC) for six months before starting ttc for DS who is our third child. I got to know my body and its subtle signs.
This month my body told me through increased cm and consistency that I was approaching ovulation - I had thought that I wasn't as far along in my cycle. I checked my calendar where I note everything and sure enough my body was right and I was out in my calculations.
I don't do temps but my body lets me know where I am at in my cycle. It is very predictable especially since I have noted every change, feelings on a calendar which shows distinct patterns.
It takes awhile to trust OPKs but once you find a brand that works for you and you learn to trust them they are a good tool to rely on and gradually you will learn the subtle signals that your body gives out.

Would you count the opk above as positive? That is as dark as they ever get for me...

I would rely on the OPKs. I used to get a temp rise before I O'd, and another after I O'd.

I wouldn't class the last photo as a positive OPK personally. I used opks and fertile mucous signs to conceive this pregnancy.

That is not a proper positive however some people just dont get positive results. Sounds like you need to use a combination of temping, CM and your OPKs. I would start BDing now anyway as sounds like you are about to or just have O'd.
