Cheap and nasty or not?

We still have to buy gifts for my Mum and her husband, my Dad and his partner, my sister and her husband, DH's sister and her husband and DH's father Problem is, we have a temporary cash flow situation so we can't spend a lot of money. DD1 brought home a lot of art work from school today and I had an idea - why not buy a nice frame and give them a Miss Kitty original? WWYT? Cheap or a nice idea? Should I add something else? If so, what? (Gifts for adults are not really important in my family but I want to get them something)

For people who are regularly involved in your daughter's life, see her often, would find it touching, then absolutely, go for it. For those more remote in your lives, probably not.

If it were me, it would just become rubbish. People dont like hanging stuff like that up sorry OP. What about making them some cookies or christmas chocolate balls or something id perfer that than artwork and wrap them in cellophane or a nice box from the cheap shop?

I think it's a wonderful idea. My best present for my 40th this year was a card that my then 12 year old DD and 2.5 year old niece made

I think it's a good present for grandparents, but not such a good present for aunts and uncles. I do like the baked cookie idea for them though.

Depends on the family member. If it were for my parents/inlaws they would love it and MIL especially would treasure it and hang it proudly. Aunties/Uncle - not so much.

For those who are especially close to your daughter, lovely idea. I would just be honest with people and say that, out of financial necessity, you will have to take a breather from gift giving (and would be happy to take a break from gift receiving, too).

My parents would go ape sh*t with excitement over something like that. Mind you DS is only 14 months and the novelty of having a grand child is still new to them. he does a crap and they get excited over it.
