DH doesn't eat prawns so I don't buy/cook them but for Xmas I was thinking of getting some to make an entree or appetiser as everyone else coming does like them.
Anyone have any recipes that are easy to make for a prawn novice?
Thanks in advance.

Prawn cocktail. Easy, can prepare the sauce the day before, delicious and refreshing. Have been having for Christmas for eleventy billion years, except last year, where I couldn't take the antihistamine I need to deal with prawns thanks to baby original.gif

prawns wrapped in filo pastry is pretty easy, and looks impressive.

Slice a few sheets of pastry into three (or sections the same length as ur prawn)
Just peel ur prawns and wrap them in the pastry (using a little melted butter to stick the edge down if needed) - you can also thread the prawns onto kebab sticks to make sure that they stay straight when cooking).

Then cook in the oven until the pastry is crispy... serve with some aioli/seafood sauce/tartare for dipping.

On Christmas Day someone always brings 1kg of cooked prawns (so the ones still in their shells). We have them outside on the lawn with champagne, a hand bowl of water to wash hands in, a wasabi mayo and a thai dipping sauce. YUM!

Wasabi mayo is just wasabi mixed with a decent egg mayo (pref homemade)
Thai dipping sauce - lime juice, sweet chilli, fish sauce, palm sugar and fresh coriander.
